30 day challenge

mexico1

I just got back from a nice week long vacation in Cozumel, Mexico where I got to relax and unwind before I start up a busy wedding season in May! In honor of a fresh start I’m joining April Foster Events in committing to 30 days straight of blogging. After a very busy months with spotty posts, I’m excited to commit to getting back into consistent posting!

So stay tuned, tomorrow will kick off a 30-day marathon of posting!

you can find me in chicago

bdaycollage

This weekend will be one of the few that I will be officially out of office, unplugged and disconnected! My husband is taking me to Chicago this weekend for my birthday and I’m looking forward to 3 days filled with some of my favorite places. I love Chicago, and it’s one of my favorite locations for a weekend mini-vacation since it’s less than 2 hrs (and a grand total of $14) to hop on the train and get dropped off right downtown.

We’ll be in town until Sunday and I have a long list of must-sees including the Museum of Science and Industry, Crate & Barrel, Navy Pier and (drum roll please)…The Cheesecake Factory! I can’t remember a time I’ve ever ventured into Chicago and NOT stopped at the Cheesecake Factory. I’m also excited for a few new places we plan on going to including a fondue restaurant that Megan, my May 16th bride suggested! It will be my first fondue experience and I have been excited about it for way too long, so you can expect a full update! Have a great weekend everyone, and I’ll be back on Monday!

dahlia-tree

This week is dedicated to all things green! We’ll look at ways you can make simple changes to make your wedding “eco-chic!” No, we don’t want anyone to grow their own flowers, make their own paper for invites or create centerpieces out of recycled pop bottles…we’re talking simple and practical ways you can help!  From invitations and venues to your gown and flowers, we’ll be offering up some practical and easy ways to make a difference on your wedding day! (and some of them will even save you some green$$$)!

happy valentines day

vdaycards

Happy Valentines Day! I hope you all have a lovely day (and weekend) with your loved ones! This is a quick pic of the valentines day cards I sent out this week for the card swap organized by April Foster Events. I’ve never been huge on homemade cards (I just never like how they turn out!) but I ended up actually liking these, so I hope the ladies who get them like them too!

If you’ve never participated in one of these blogger holiday card swaps, you should—I did one organized by Brooklyn Bride for Christmas and it’s really a lot of fun to go to the mailbox and retrieve your homemade cards from random wedding bloggers around the country! Plus, I’m getting a lot better at making cards now that I’m getting all of this practice!  On Monday I’ll share the cute cards I received from the other ladies in the card swap!
