(La Stellina Studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan)
This weekend I got a chance to meet with Tara Berghuis of La Stellina studio. Tara is creating custom invitations for one of my 2009 couples, and so far the results have been amazing. I had already seen the mockups of my bride’s inviations, but this weekend I also got the chance to check out all of her samples, and I looked through 30+ invitations that were all gorgeous. Truthfully, I had to put the invitations down, or we never would have gotten through our meeting!
La Stellina is located in the Grand Rapids area, but Tara is also available to service out of town or out of state brides, and I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed by her pricing!
You can email Tara at email@example.com for help with creating your unique wedding stationary.
Stay tuned for a Q+A to get to know Tara from La Stellina studio!

Whether you’re on a $15,000 budget, a $50,000 budget, or a $150,000 budget, no one wants to spend more than they have to on wedding essentials. So if you’re heading out for some holiday shopping deals, don’t forget to pick up some great deals for your wedding, too!
If you’re providing the alcoohol for your wedding—which many of my brides are lucky to be able to do—you can save yourself a ton of money on beverage costs. If you’re considering offering a champagne toast for all of your guests, the peak time to buy is coming up! Keep your eye on the shelves and you’ll notice Champagne (and sparkling wine) takes a drastic plunge in price between Christmas and New Years Eve! So if you’re planning on stocking up on bubbly, head out during the holidays, stock your cart, and save yourself some much-needed money!
Stay tuned next week for a great book giveaway, just in time for holiday entertaining!
Tomorrow I’ll be busy mingling with family, enjoying delicious food, and even exchanging some early Christmas presents, so today I wanted to take the opportunity to share a few things I’m thankful for. After all, the food is great and Christmas presents are nice, but I think being thankful for everything we have is really “the reason for the season,” as cheesy as it may sound!
I’m thankful for my wonderful and supportive husband and family, for the opportunity I have to pursue my dream and build a business that I love. I’m thankful for all of the amazing couples I’ve had the chance to work with in the past, and for the amazing couples I get to assist in 2009. I’m thankful for the wonderful growth Stella Event Design has been blessed with in the last year and a half, and for all of the great things I know we have in our future. What are you grateful for?
I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday! We will be out of the office Thanksgiving day through Sunday, and will return any emails and phone calls promptly on Monday!
2009 Summer Internships
Stella Event Design is excited to announce we will be accepting 1-2 interns to assist us with our 2009 wedding season! The interns will assist with at least 5 events during the summer and will assist with tasks as needed during the rehearsal, ceremony and reception. This internship will offer hands-on experience in day-of event execution and you will work directly with our Lead Planner, Jessica Pennington and Event Assistant, Beth George.
What we’re looking for in the ideal candidate:
-Junior or Senior in a related field
-Previous coursework or hands-on experience in event planning is preferred
-Must be located in SW Michigan, West Michigan, or NW Indiana during the internship, or be willing to travel
-Must be available to work weekends (especially Fridays and Saturdays) as needed throughout the summer months, May-September, as well as some Thursdays and Sundays
-This is a part time Internship and is not paid.  Must apply towards college credit
You will be working directly with the bride and groom, as well as their family and guests, so you should be comfortable with people, outgoing and presentable. Wedding planning is a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of hard work, so we’re looking for someone who wants to work hard in an incredibly rewarding job! If you’re not familiar with our company, please take some time to read through some of the real weddings on our blog to see what we do before applying! We love what we do, and we are excited to bring on interns who share the same enthusiasm!
If you would like to apply for our 2009 Internship, please send a cover letter and resume to intern (at) StellaEventDesign (dot) com with “2009 internship” in the subject line. Please do not call or mail resumes, and please do not submit information via the Contact page on our website. We will be accepting applications through December 19 and will be setting up interviews for early January.
I was fed up with our standard business “fan page” on Facebook, so I created a new page that will be business-focused. Also, comment on the wall to let us know any topics you’d like to see us blog about, and submit questions regarding your own wedding! Friend Us!
Sorry about the delay on this—I was trying to figure out why I hadn’t heard from the winner of the book and realized the post never went live! Apologies!

I don’t normally post much information here on my personal life outside of wedding planning, but today we will bend the rules a bit (plus it’s wedding related!)
It’s official, today is my one year wedding anniversary! Brides-to-be should believe people when they tell you that the time will fly! We celebrated over the weekend with a wonderful mini-vacation and this week we are busy busy busy as we prepare to move next weekend! Or, should I say, as I prepare for Megan+Scott’s wedding on Saturday while my husband prepares to move us! What a good sport he is! Stella Event Design would not be possible without his love and support as I run around here like a crazy lady, doing what I love! So, today is my official Thank You to the hubby for putting up with his crazy wedding planning wife for a full 365 days!
Oh, and my very fabulous wedding present is a tiny Flip Video Mino, which takes up to 60 minutes of video, and snaps right into your computer to upload videos! I tried it out this weekend, and it’s amazing, so expect videos to come to the Stella Blog soon!
Also, posting will be light this week as we pack up the office and move out! I can’t wait until Saturday when the beautiful wedding of Megan+Scott takes place at the oh-so-adorable Morris Farms in Niles! Their historic meeting house is too cute for words, and is going to be a beautiful backdrop for their ceremony, so stay tuned!
